Hospital Jasin first opened and offered it serviced on June 9, 1890. At that time, the hospital was staffed by 5 medical assistants and 15 nurses.
The original location of the first Hospital Jasin was opposite the current location of SMK Iskandar Shah, which overlooks the road going from Jasin town towards Kampung Kelubi.
It was also during this period that a malaria outbreak occurred in Jasin where 522 rubber estate workers were infected and 11 died in the Denvon estate. Malaria was then very common among the rubber estate workers, the British colonial government spent $50, which was then the biggest industry in Jasin.
In 1920, 000 to expand the hospital (Ref: Straits Settlement Import Export 1932). The purpose of the hospital then was to serve the medical needs and to control the spread of communicable diseases, which were rampant in the area, especially malaria. At the time, the hospital was staffed only by one medical assistant. To overcome this problem, the Malacca State Health Office decided to send a few doctors to the hospital to control the disease and prevent another outbreak.
